Thanks for such a lucid post, looked impressive but I checked your own site's page rank in google, it's ZERO, why is that? Seems like you did not followed this article? Please confirm!

Thanks for the quick reply. I was reading last week, and came across this that mentions that adding numbers first makes WordPress faster. Although, I see it was in 2009. Maybe WP 3 fixed it..not sure.
 <a href="http://dougal.gunters.org/blog/2009/02/04/efficient-wordpress-permalinks" rel="nofollow">http://dougal.gunters.org/blog/2009/02/04/efficie...</a>

That's what made me want to put numbers first. Although, maybe I'm just being TOO picky lol

I want my WP site the fastest it can be!

Thanks for the link to the video, it answered my questions perfectly. Have a great day

Test it out, I cannot see why not, maybe try /%category%/%monthnum%-%day%/%postname%

You will need to test this out on an online server, not local.. so setup a demo blog and run this structure with your changes and see what happens before sending it live.

I dont buy numbers are faster, remember people don't search for numbers, you want keywords and longtail in your URLS and post names.

all in one is just for SEO, if you want /%year% then I suggest you let it run with the year in the URL, as it could cause you problems for sure.

hope that helps.

Heya, this is really awesome, this website you have here. I was just wondering though, how would I get " Home | Contact | About | Sitemap " to appear in the header of the Bogan Personal Press theme, and the "Website Agreement | Privacy Policy | Services " to the footer.

Also, if I wanted a /%year%/%category%/postname%.html format instead, will it still work as long as I choose my Top Level Categories correctly?

...(cont'd)...

I've been doing a lot of research on Wordpress Optimization and SEO, and I found that using the year format first is good for 2 reasons:

1. It speeds up wordpress because for some reason, wordpress is coded to search for numbers fist.
2. If I do want any chance to be ranked in Google news, Google says I have to at least have 3 #'s in the url, and the /%year% format is the only one that gives at least 3 numbers.

So, can I use that format and as long as I choose Top Level Categories correctly, ie "Make Money with Twitter" being top level, and specific Make Money Twitter posts being under there, will I be ok?

How would I use All in One to noindex the /%year? also?

Sorry for asking so many questions lol

I DO love what you have going here, I'll gladly spread the word about you...thanks for giving :)

No, but you should always 301 any of the old indexed pages that way the bot will know where to look.
