Module 5 Finding High Value Markets

This is a go with your head not heart scenario, don’t bother picking a market that you have as a passion unless it’s profitable.

“Pick hobby and make hobby money, pick a business and make business money”

Trying to pick a market off the top of your head is not a wise idea. You need to find a market based on its size and overall value (crush this later), you must always target a market with buyers willing to spend. The only time I recommend going after a hobby is if you’re interested in product creation and or it’s a large market with multiple sub markets/niches.

Like we said in the previous module, what’s the point in having a solution to a problem you don’t understand, start at the people level after you brainstorm market ideas. Once you have a market find the biggest problem it has, then take the solution straight to the people.

NOTE This is not keyword research, right now we are crushing the hell out of online markets so we can formulate a plan to scale out a massive targeted keyword list, all these methods integrate into the lateer advanced training modules, if you get lost over the next few modules, don’t stress it, this entire system will become crystal clear once you complete the training..

BrainStorm Tools Advanced Market and Keyword Generator

It can get crazy trying to think of new markets, unless your full time and know exactly whats up in terms of high value markets and Seed Keywords (aka CPC $25-$50+) then it’s up to your neural networks to decide, and let’s be honest some of us just don’t have the strength in the grey matter to fire off any decent ideas, and everyone wants to build their own keyword database right, RIGHT!!

You might have a strong connection to something, like pet fish for example, but fail hard to scale that idea into further markets and profits. What if I said theoretically that one word “fish” could form an endless loop of relationships between every market known to man women and child? You would say BS right?

Bogan Marketing is giving you a chunky little tool set called Brainstorm Tools.

The problem with commercial keyword tools is simply they don’t offer ideas, they just simply goto Google Adwords Tool(as of sept 2010) and throw in 1 keyword and holla back a bunch of Google suggestions. And let’s be honest most of these keyword tools take ages to research just 1 keyword.

Well its not an option for BM, first up depending on whats going on you can now either tear apart your product keyword, or build up a suggested keyword list based on 1 keyword, then scale that one keyword by using the search engines suggest and related tools, then we go and hit up Google Adwords Tool with a major list of the markets keywords? What keyword tool does that! NONE, except Brain Storm Tools.

Let’s put it this way, you want to sell and or promote watches? You enter in watches, next up your keyword list gets built based on the most popular search terms entered for watches, then word relationships with those popular search terms, then your list gets scaled based on those keywords using Google Adwords Suggestions. Thats keyword research 2010 style.

But we also want to give you more options, for example, what keywords get search for the most, what keywords have the highest SEO value or Adwords Value or Adsense VALUE! You get the idea, these tools are in a league of their own.

BrainStorm A

BrainStorm A requires no input from you, you run this when you have no idea of a keyword and want some product suggestions, you just hit the play button and A will harvest new keywords/markets based on recently found products in Google Product search.

Check the video of BrainStorm A below, NOTE THIS IS THE BETA VERSION-MAJOR UPGRADES HAVE BEEN ADDED

BrainStorm B

BrainStorm B is the kingpin of seed keyword research, this tool allows you to pluck new markets using the search engines as discussed above to forumulate new keyword lists based on a singular keyword. You can enter any keyword, from insurance to foam, and you will get depending on your scale depth selection 1,000s of keywords and the data we use to formulate our keyword variables.

This is the data we get back after running BrainStorm B on upto 6,000 keywords.

The concept behind BrainStorm B

As you can see BrainStorm B is a little different from commercial keyword tools and is based around automatic content generation using some of the Google Search Algorithms. Essentially we are scraping suggested and related searches in Google to build our keyword list, then allow Google to scale and research the keyword for analysis.

The concept with BrainStorm B is a simple series of questions.

Suggest me the most searched terms for my seed keyword across Google, Bing and Yahoo and build out a bigger Seed Keyword List.

Example

  1. Dog adoption
  2. Dog Supplies
  3. Dog Care
  4. Dog Facts
  5. Dog Care

and so on

Then we ask Google what keywords have a relationship with our seed keywords.

Example if you type in Dog, what is a list of related words and markets?

  1. dog
  2. pet
  3. pets
  4. breed
  5. dog breed
  6. puppies
  7. dogs
  8. canine
  9. animals
  10. vet
  11. pet
  12. fish
  13. bird
  14. cat
  15. dog vet
  16. cat
  17. cats pets
  18. pet birds
  19. cat kittens
  20. bird dogs
  21. ferrets pets
  22. cat fish
  23. animal
  24. pets
  25. cats
  26. breed dogs

And so on and so on for infinity if we so chose….

Once you have generated the relationships we then expand the seed list searching for keyword and market relationships, so we scale the original seed list to form an even bigger list of related keywords.

  1. pet insurance
  2. pet supplies
  3. pet rescue
  4. pet friendly accommodation
  5. pet barn
  6. pet link
  7. pet stock
  8. pet games
  9. pet society
  10. pets paradise
  11. pets for sale

Next we want all suggestions based on our original seed keyword plus the alphabet.

Dog A

Dog B

Dog C

Each time we enter those keyword into Google we get more and more  keywords.

Once BrainStorm B finished building out the list it then crunches the list using Google Adwords Tool.

You then want to start calculating value, markets of value within a group or larger groups of keywords based on total market value, you can then form another seed list based on high value keywords and markets.

Largest Market = PET INSURANCE

Once you formulate the high value you can then scale it on a base level to form a larger Keyword list for new market suggestions that are the most queried seach strings, you will average 5-30 x 10-200 new keywords once the bot scales the list for new suggestions.

Total new keywords depending on the seed can be anywhere from 100 to 6,000.

You should then paste your new keywords into the template and focus on SEO Value. It’s the simple multiplication of estimated monthly traffic X CPC.

Once you start to discover the value markets then  you scale your lists based on higher value Seeds until you target markets that are worth tons of monies.

Sounds a little complex, but its not when all you need to do is enter a keyword, scale depth, tick a few boxes and press a button.

Brainstorm B will generate 2 lists, BrainStormBRelated and BrainStormBResults.

The related list contains the initial list of related keywords based on the seed, this is the keywords the bot scraped across the search engines.

The results list contains a scaled list of keywords based on the related seed keywords, this list is based on suggestions from the Google Adwords Tool.

BrainStorm C

BrainStorm C simply scrapes product suggestions from Google Product search, unlike BrainStorm A you enter the product or products and the bot will build you out a keyword list with related products.

Check the video of BrainStom C below NOTE THIS IS THE BETA VERSION-MAJOR UPGRADES HAVE BEEN ADDED

So basically C generates a list of keyword Suggestions using the Google Product Search. For example if you have decicde you want to build an Affiliate Store based around Shoes then BrainStorm C will generate you a massive list of categories you can integrate into the store.

Facts and Fiction

A common problem affiliates tend to have is trying to rank content that has little semantic relationships between their target keywords and the actual content they’re producing for the search engines.

They over play and over optimise content for 1-2 keywords and fail to mix and match vocabulary keywords.

This is a common trend among marketers, the problem starts because simply keywords and content are all related, there are search engine algorithms that analyse this data to form a set of market and vocabulary keywords, essentially the search engines use this as a base to rank content on a determination scale of real and non real human content, the data is pre-existing and is used as a comparison from other market website content. The ironic thing about this is it only take a small amount of readable content to rank a set of keywords.

As an example we have put some of our basic methods into BrainStorm  B. BrainStorm B starts at the semantic level, then moves into related searches, all the keywords BrainStorm generates are essentially market and vocabulary keywords.. BM will be using this data to show you how to build out automated content in the next module!

Simple Fast Keyword List Generation

With the updates on Snatch, the search engine scraper and the addition of Snatch Keywords then I have no problems telling you if you just want to build a keyword list fast by adding keywords then you can do it using Snatch Keywords, it really is becoming one of my favorite little bots for just simple keyword generation.

New Seed Research

BM suggests the only time you get hands on is when you’re at the personal market level trying to reach out and understand a market from the consumer’s perspective, AKA the main problem and solution.

For further seed research you can use the following sites.

The above are good places to start brainstorming new seeds.

Once you gather a large list of seeds you can start to branch out and find less competitive areas using some of our other tools you will get in the next few modules.  So the main aim right now is finding high value seeds then scaling them to find the highest value keywords and markets.

You can also do a quick search on what offers are available to build CPA seed lists from offers202.

Direct Market Sources

The net has gone next level and has now become the total social revolution, why this has happened is simply big business stepped into the game early and kick started it way back in early in the 00s, lead by the world’s biggest media and news agencies.

The amount of data mining that big brand builders are using is astronomical, when you’re playing with budgets in the multimillions, and it’s not imperative to impact the net revenue line but build reach and trust alongside awareness then social data, such as Geographic, Psychographic and Demographic is absolute gold.

Hence the string of me too type sites that connect people with simular interestes and or problems.

You really only need to play around with these sites for simple, ok I have a market, now give me the problems and solutions people are having within these markets, again create new Seeds from these sites and BrainStorm them.

Manual Book Processing

Another cool source for new Seeds is books, reading is so good when your stressed out and want to just relax,  reading is a great source of inspiration and ideas PLUS new SEED keywords.

You want to check the below.

The Golden Rule

A market with no ads is a loser, a market with hundreds of ads is a winner, fact, and competition is good.

So please don’t go thinking you can reinvent or discover a market today that has not already been tapped and tested. The number 1 rule is to find a market where people are willing to spend money.

Find a problem where people willing to spend money on its solution, if you offer them a viable solution you have a good chance of getting some of that money they are willing to spend. It’s a simple rule but it works and all good marketers live by this.

Don’t Forget Strong Markets

With your list of Seeds and BrainStorm in hand the next point we must raise is don’t ever ever forget Market Value.

This is why market research becomes extremely important, you cannot afford to waste time, and you need to identify hot markets using Daily and Monthly SEO Value.

This is why the excel template is included with BrainStorm, Alongside 2 more excel templates for further keyword and market crunching.

All 3 templates are pretty self explanatory.

Basic Keyword Template included in some of the Keyword and Market Research Tools, this is the data it will produce after you copy past any .csv data into the Template file.

Template

The Keyword Calculator and Market Value Templates are so critical if you want to get into the real meat of a market and its keywords.

Keyword Calculator

The keyword calculator guesstimates keywords profitability based on CPC, Ad Spend, Payout and Conversions.

For example you are paying $1.00 per click, your budget is $1,000, you will generate 1000 clicks, your payout is $200, you need to generate 5 leads to breakeven, you have a CVR (Conversion Rate) of 0.50% or 1/200. A new metric you can use is Earning per Dollar or EPD, currently if you look at the sheet with the above figures the EPD is $0.00 and your profit is 0 or breakeven. You can simply add or subtract a conversion to see the figures change dynamically, try adding 2 more or 2 less conversions to see the new figures generated.

Market Value

Market values only needs to values CPC and daily traffic, with those 2 variables we can calculate some rough averages and see the daily and month values of each keyword and market across PPC and SEO traffic.

Video of Keyword Calculator and Market Value in action.

Cut the Bullshit and Go after the Best

You can bypass a lot of market research and bullshit by just going after the big markets and big spenders/earners. Now it can be hard to identify these on your own as you need to aggregate and scrape a lot of data from Google’s index.

I recommend SEM Island, a team of very good programmers who rip down large chucks of keywords across Google and offer them up on a plate in .csv files, you can get the top Adsense and Adwords plus SEO and Site on Google, this is solid gold for you and me and the BrainStorm tools. Check’em out here

The other list worth checking out is Adsense heaven here

Conclusion Module 5 Finding High Value Markets

OK that module should have given you some freshness, I hope you made it through ok and understand the basics behind the above method on market value, it’s quick and dirty but mega effective in weeding out the loser markets from the goldmines. When you’re niche marketing and gold mining remember to start at market value, forget what you have been told and sold, unlearn it quick.

Hey the brainstorm modules aren't working for me. I believe brainstorm A redirects to BM.com at around 950 keywords. B+C didn't work as well either. I assume google has made changes, but also i'm running virtualbox on my mac.

  • Bogan Marketing says:

BrainStorm has been upgraded and will be released today or tomorrow, all brainstorm tools have been fixed.

Thanks for the quick reply and all the hard work. Can't wait till the modules and the forum are up. Since I have no where else to post this question: how much do the top affiliate marketers make? I used to be a banker which was 120K for analysts upto 1-5 million for managing directors and MAYBE 15 million for group heads. now I look at my options and i sort of have this expectation (justified or not) that I "deserve" to make a lot of money, but whereas in banking the salaries were VERY well known, people seem to hide or lie or exaggerate about how much they get paid in their online jobs. any color on this would be much appreciated. also, it's trendy, meaning that there may be good years or bad years. same way in banking, except you're guaranteed your salary minimum and bonuses fluctuate. in online businesses it seems, if one area, say affiliate marketing gets oversatured, people look for a new job? is that so at all? sorry for long question, but thanks.

  • Bogan Marketing says:

It really depends on what your marketing, metaphorically speaking if your into insurance online/offline you will make more than the person selling toy cars on ebay. The net works in the same way, its more like an information reflection of the real world.. same principals apply, people are creatures of habit so their real world obsessions/interest are followed online too, including their spending habits.

Same thing goes for affiliates, if your doing product creation or maybe CPA whatever you will get more/less depending on the size of the market and demand. The the internet is very seasonal so it does reflect the real world in terms of market fluctuations, even daily/weekly there is good and bad days, but thats what analytic/trend and insight data is good for. Knowing your market and what they want is important, knowing their price point is also important. But that's on another level to what is currently being put up on here, will cover it though, once all these modules are put out.
